Meet Melissa

I'm Melissa, an associate licensed counselor in Alabama practicing under the supervision of Cherie Hickey, LPC-S. I hold a Master's degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Liberty University. I have experience and training in play therapy assessments and interventions and trauma-informed parenting and counseling techniques,. I am trained and certified as a SYMBIS Pre-Marital Counseling Facilitator and Level One Gottman Marriage Counseling trained.

I am a birth mom, adopted mom, and foster momma to six amazing children. I have a passion for connecting with new moms as they face the unknowns of motherhood. My husband and I are licensed foster parents in Jefferson County. Foster children hold my heart and I feel honored to work with them to overcome the adversity they may be facing through their time in care.

I have the privilege of serving at the Children's Director at my home church. This role enables me to teach and share the love of Jesus with kids from all backgrounds. Spirituality is an area I work to integrate into my counseling style when welcomed.
